It was forcast for a sunny day on the island so just had to try Wylfa again in calmer conditions, set off at my normal time 07;00 hrs in the fog and called in at Rays for the usual essentials, plus some Eddystone eels.
Arrived at the car park with the whole day ahead of me
loaded up my rucksack with the gear for the day and set off through the kissing gate and through a nice pine woodland
Got through the woods and turned right to the top of the hill and looked to where I would be fishing.
As i walked down the hill I could see a few fishing in the spec I wanted to try
The climb down the rock is not for the faint hearted
Sometimes you just have to be cheaky, "any room for a little one I asked"
the couple of old hands (from Holyhead) fishing on the ledge, they just gave a grimace and a nod, but after introducing myself and a friendly chat they were great and dispensed some of there hard earned wisdom even passing me one of there favourite eels to use.
However, these lads had been here since first light with nothing to show for their efforts (spinning strom eels) a couple of lads on the other side also went home empty handed they were using large lures.
At 09:30 i threw out a recently made jif lemon and watch it hit the rocks on the other side, doh the two blokes next to me must have been wetting them selves i darnt even look at them
I tried rag, successful last week and a variety of eels and chug bugs but nowt. I was about to leave at 14:00 hrs until a met up with Mike from Wylfa a local lad with loads of knowledge about the place.
Mike cast into the turbulence above
Mike said he was confident of catching and so I stayed a while longer watching him work his lure from left to right, not seen anyone work a lure like this before
After about an hours hard lure working 1 hr b4 HT Mike was in
A nice 3.5 lb silver bar
Successfully landed
But for me it was no bananas but know what I need to do next time if the jelly eels arnt working
The thing about fishing on your own "ok granted its dangerous on rock marks", but I find if your friendly and polite you tend to meet more people from other areas which can be more interesting sometimes, you can end up having a get craic with them. Mike from Wylfa is a sound lad and I hope he joins up to C&C.
A word of warning anyone seen taking undersize fish here or abusing the place will be told by the locals they take great pride in their patch. Respect to Mike all his insized Bass returned.
I would have to say that this was the best blanking session I have had
Cheers Abbo. _________________ Laugh and the world laughs with you.

Abbo when it comes to showing us the way, to venues we've never been too, your the man.
Your photos beg us to try out these places, when in the area.
I'd need a Lacky to carry my kit, but I suppose spinning for those Silver Bullets, you need to be traveling light.
In my eyes your not a blanker, as you've come back with more than most. Keep the Reports n Photos coming. |

| great report again, good pics but I worry when you tell eveyone about marks like this, last year there were 6 or more anglers-I use the term loosely-, keeping every fish they caught, most of them undersize, keep up the reports , nice one again. |

Hi Mark,
I understand what you sayand i do give it some thought before each post.
However, the venue and tactics are already open to anyone and his dog on another well known North West fishing site so everyone with a PC will know about it anyway.
If anglers choose Wylfa then another venue will be less populated although how many will want to go there is hard to know the walk the climb the tactics is not everyones cup of rosy.
9 times out of ten I will post a report and in the summer months they are around many different parts of the Island it just so happens that Wylfa is the last two. If it was a secret I would keep it that way but it aint. If we all posted the same venues what boring site this would be.
As for people keeping undersize fish (if they catch) I doubt it the locals there will be on their case no probs.
Hope i have clamed your fears and you can now understand my logic.
PM me if want to discuss it further always willing to listen to other peoples opinions.
