The River Alt rises in Knowsley near Huyton Town Centre and 28 kilometres further on reaches the sea at Hightown ( roughly between Formby and Crosby). On the shore there is a good chance of plenty of flounders and eels in the summer with a chance of a few plaice or mullet too, at the mouth of the Alt there is also a chance of the odd sea trout, low tide uncovers plenty of beds of good quality blow worm.
